Master of Engineering in Applied Chemistry

The 3-year master’s-level engineering degree in Applied Chemistry is open to holders of a 2/3 year (or more) university-level degree in Chemistry or Materials Science for admission into 1st year or holders of at least a 4 year university-level degree in Chemistry or Materials Science for admission into 2nd year.

How to apply

Depending on their situation, international students can apply via ITECH Lyon’s application platform or via the Études en France platform*.

*For non-European students living in one of the countries concerned by the Études en France procedure. You will also be asked to make a parallel application on the ITECH Lyon application platform.

Non-European students living outside the EU

Non-European students living outside the European Union can apply via Études en France (1st year) or via the ITECH Lyon application platform (1st and 2nd year).

French-taught program (1st or 2nd year entry)
  • 1st year admission: students can apply either via the Études en France platform or via ITECH Lyon’s application platform.
    • Via Études en France: if you live in one of the countries concerned by the Études en France procedure, you can apply via the Études en France platform. A parallel application will be required on ITECH Lyon’s platform, but you will be exempt from the application fee if you have added the engineering program to your program cart.
    • Via our online application platform: if you do do not live in one of the countries where the Études en France procedure applies, or if you are only interested in applying to ITECH Lyon’s Master of Engineering in Applied Chemistry (and not other programs), you can apply directly via our online application platform. In order to submit your application file, you will be required to pay the application fee. The platform opens in mid-January.
  • 2nd year admission: students can only apply via ITECH Lyon’s application platform.
    • Via our online application platform: since the 2nd year starts abroad (see page Mandatory semester abroad), students must apply via our online application platform. In order to submit your application file, you will be required to pay the application fee. The platform opens in mid-January.
English-taught program (2nd year entry)

International students living in the EU

International students living in a European Union country must apply via our online application platform. In order to submit your application file, you will be required to pay the application fee. The platform opens in mid-January.

International students living already in France

International students living already in France must apply via our online application platform. In order to submit your application file, you will be required to pay the application fee. The platform opens in mid-January.

Admission process

  1. Check the program prerequisites
  2. Create an account on our application platform
  3. Complete your profile
    Fill in the My Information section with your personal information: first name, last name, phone number, email address, and details about your academic background.
  4. Choose the desired program
    In the My Applications section, search for the Master of Engineering in Applied Chemistry program you are interested in and click on Submit an application.
  5. Upload the required documents in English or French (depending on the program you’re applying to)
    • CV
    • Cover letter
    • Academic transcripts
    • Copy of your university degrees or enrollment certificate for the current year
    • Letters of recommendation (optional)
  6. Validate your application
    • Once you have uploaded all the required documents and completed your application file, submit your application on the platform. The admissions team will review its eligibility before you can proceed with the payment of the application fee.
  7. Pay the application fee
    • Pay the €61* application fee to initiate the processing of your application.
  8. Admission interview
    • After payment, an online admissions interview will be scheduled.
  9. Admissions committee
    • After the interview, the admission committee will review your application and interview results.

*People who have applied for ITECH Lyon’s engineering program via the Études en France platform are exempt from the application fee.

Please note: We advise international (non-European) students who do not live in France to apply by mid-March at the latest, so that they have enough time to complete all the administrative formalities before starting their studies and that ITECH Lyon can help with accommodation.

How can I obtain my enrollment certificate?

Upon admission, an initial payment (the amount is available on our application platform), also called as arrhes, is required to confirm enrollment. Once ITECH Lyon receives this payment, the secretary will send the enrollment certificate.

My visa has been refused. Can I get a refund?

If your visa application has been refused by the Consulate, ITECH Lyon can reimburse your initial payment (arrhes) on presentation of the proof of visa refusal issued by the Consulate. The refund will be made within approximately 30 days of receipt of the receipt.

Can I pay my tuition fees in several instalments?

Yes, of course. At ITECH Lyon, you can choose the payment plan that suits you best. Tuition fees can be paid in 1, 4, 8 or 12 instalments, depending on the program.

Can ITECH Lyon help me find accommodation?

If you confirm your enrolment at one of our programs before May, ITECH Lyon can reserve a room for you in a student residence. In Lyon, there are several student residences in the Crous network in which we can place you. These residences are located off-campus (about 30 to 45 minutes by public transport).

Advanced Master’s programs

Advanced Master’s programs are open to holders of a 5-year university-level degree. ITECH Lyon offers 4 different Advanced Master’s programs:

Application process

  1. Check that you meet the prerequisites for the academic program you are interested in (to do this, simply visit the dedicated page of the Advanced Master’s program).
  2. Create your account on your online application site: https://itechnet.itech.fr/atsnet/
  3. Fill out your personal details (last name, first name, mobile number, e-mail address, academic background) in the section called Ma fiche candidat (My profile).
  4. Go to the section called Mes candidatures (My applications), then search for the program you wish to apply for and click on Déposer une candidature (Submit an application).
  5. Upload the required documents in English: CV, cover letter, academic transcripts, diplomas/school attendance certificate, recommendation letter (optional).
  6. Once you have uploaded all the required documents, you will have to validate your application.
  7. Once your application is validated, you will be able to proceed and pay the application fee (€70*).
  8. After paying the application fees, your application will be submitted to the admissibility committee (which is held at the beginning of every month).
  9. If your application is marked as admissible, you will be invited to an online admissions interview (in French).
  10. After the interview, your application will be submitted to the admissions committee (which is held at the beginning of every month).

*People who have applied for an ITECH Lyon’s Advanced Master’s program via the Études en France (Campus France) platform are exempt from the application fee.

Selection process

Admission to the Advanced Master’s programs is subject to a three-stage selection process:

  1. Study of the application file: candidates are selected on the basis of their academic record and project suitability.
  2. Admission interview: candidates who were selected on the basis of their application file. The purpose of this interview is to check that the applicant’s project is consistent with the program’s objectives, and to assess the applicant’s qualities in relation to the profession for which the program prepares.
  3. Admissions committee: once the admission interview is done, the applicant’s file is submitted to the admissions committee who will study the applicant’s academic record, project and admission interview.

The average duration of the admission process is about 6 weeks.

Formulator and Color Technician

This 1-year French-taught program is open to holders of a 2/3 year (or more) university-level degree in Chemistry or Materials Science.
